It’s worth noting that Leicester meet Manchester United next Saturday at Old Trafford before clashing with FC Porto the following Tuesday.

With these two fixtures on the horizon, it’s safe to assume that Tuesday’s League Cup match against Chelsea will not be high on the priority list for Claudio Ranieri who will use the occasion to rest his star players.

That means Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and Danny Drinkwater should all take a breather, with Ahmed Musa, Andy King, Jose Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki among those players to feature.

Chelsea don’t have the distraction of European football and Antonio Conte will be determined to treat this competition seriously, with Cesc Fabregas and Pedro among those players hoping to start the game.

Michy Batshuayi failed to get on the pitch against Liverpool last Friday although he bagged two against Bristol Rovers in the last round and we have to assume that the visitors will be too strong for opponents who don’t need the distraction of this competition while they focus on reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League.
