Now that Liverpool are back in the Champions League (and especially because they had to qualify through the play-offs), it’s clear that the EFL Cup takes a back seat this season.

The Reds have had a busy start to the campaign (including a double header against Hoffenheim) and Jurgen Klopp won’t be minded to risk his star players in this competition – at least not at this early stage.

Sadio Mane is suspended, while Philippe Coutinho, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino are players that can expect to have the night off, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dominic Solanke among those players who may feature.

Leicester played a weakened side in the previous round at Sheffield United but still managed to breeze past tough opponents, with the Foxes liable to take this competition more seriously.

The Midlands side don’t have European football this season, with Craig Shakespeare’s side looking bright at Huddersfield on Saturday and we will see Demarai Gray, Islam Slimani and Shinji Okazaki feature for the home side.
