Louis van Gaal’s darkest day as Manchester United manager came in this fixture last season where the Red Devils relinquished a 3-1 lead to lose 5-3 against a Leicester side new to the Premier League.

United then rallied to finish fourth in the Premier League, while the Foxes suffered a massive slump which saw them hit the foot of the table before a late resurgence under Nigel Pearson.

This season, the two teams are leading the way at the top, with Leicester shock front-runners after being tipped by many for relegation this season. Claudio Ranieri might have inherited a decent squad from Pearson although the Italian has still done unexpectedly well with the Midlands club.

The only defeat of the season has come against Arsenal when spectacularly losing 5-2. However, this has been followed by five wins and a draw in the top flight, with the team bursting with confidence at the moment.

United are well known for their defensive strength. However, the 2-1 win at Watford also saw them show a steely determination to win the game after Troy Deeney had restored parity for the Hornets with minutes left on the clock.

Perhaps the best LVG signing of his tenure has been the recruitment of Bastian Schweinsteiger whose obvious class brings quality at both ends of the park, while David de Gea is the safest possible pair of hands.

It feels like a long time since the Red Devils crashed 3-0 at the Emirates, with the visitors setting their stall out in this match and it should be noted that the Foxes haven’t kept too many clean sheets this term.

Therefore, we’re going to have a small bet on the 1-1 scoreline, with United likely to find the net but perhaps they might struggle to tame a rampant Foxes team for the entire ninety minutes.
