Liverpool’s season might not be all over bar the shouting, especially if Manchester United have the upper hand during Sunday’s derby.

The wheels have been falling off Manchester City’s title campaign in the past few weeks and Brendan Rodgers will be hopeful they can still get close to landing a top four spot this term.

Naturally, Liverpool have to get their own house in order after league defeats against Arsenal and Manchester United, although opponents don’t come any easier than a Newcastle side who would have been relegated this season but for Alan Pardew banking plenty of points early on.

John Carver is struggling to get a tune from this modest Newcastle team and their defeat in the Tyne-Wear derby was made worse by the fact that Alan Pardew took his Palace team to the Stadium of Light on Saturday and won 4-1.

Therefore, Newcastle look there for the taking, with Rodgers hoping that Raheem Sterling can put all the contract talk behind him, while Daniel Sturridge will be looking to make up for an injury-hit season which has seen his game time restricted.

We reckon Liverpool could win at a canter and are backing them on the handicap market, with the Reds looking to go out and put on a show following recent disappointments, while Carver will be left scratching his head at St James’ Park.
