Liverpool were second-best at the Britannia Stadium in their first match, with Philippe Coutinho’s excellent winner masking over the fact that the Reds had produced a hard-working but rather ordinary performance.

Brendan Rodgers was actually close to hooking the Brazilian before that late winner, although he will now be looking for his team to build on that opening victory against one of the new boys in the division.

Roberto Firmino might make his full debut in this match, with Christian Benteke once again likely to operate as the lone striker although the Belgian might expect better service than the match against Stoke where he was isolated.

Even so, this is a Liverpool team who have once again lost their best attacking player in the summer, with Raheem Sterling having left for Manchester City.

In addition, Steven Gerrard no longer brings experience to the set-up and while Jordan Henderson and James Milner are solid midfield choices, this is still an unproven team who were way off the pace last season.

Bournemouth were pretty unlucky to lose against Aston Villa in their first game, although Eddie Howe will make a few changes for this game and perhaps Max Gradel will get a chance to strut his stuff at Anfield.

Sylvain Distin could also operate in central defence after facing Liverpool at Anfield several times over, although the Cherries will be looking to create chances and they have bright attacking players in the form of Gradel and Ritchie.

We reckon the prices are wrong and that 9/20 doesn’t reflect Liverpool’s chances of victory even if they are the obvious favourite. We’ll swerve backing the visitors but the draw odds look tasty enough.
