Manchester City are clearly a bit flimsy defensively without Vincent Kompany. However, it didn’t stop them pulverising Crystal Palace in their last match at the Etihad and they can overcome an Everton team who are suffering at the moment.

The two teams recently played out a goalless draw and that was after the Toffees had won the first leg of this Capital One Cup tie, although Everton’s league form is shoddy and they are now without a win in five Premier League encounters.

Sunday’s 2-1 reverse against Swansea City was hard for the fans to swallow. For all of the team’s bright attacking play, they are too vulnerable defensively and might struggle against an in-form Sergio Aguero.

Aguero has scored six goals in as many games, with the Argentine looking deadly and he can benefit from a supply line coming from Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva.

Everton are in the tricky position of leading on aggregate by a goal and they’ll kick off the game with a defensive approach although the home side scoring the opener means that the visitors will have to take a different tack.

Time and again, we have seen City score in buckets on home soil and this has the makings of a match where they can run their opponents ragged.

City have managed 33 goals in 12 Premier League matches at home, with a fit Aguero making the possibility of them scoring two or three times in this clash a distinct possibility.
