Manchester City were at their rampant best for much of Saturday’s derby and a 3-2 defeat didn’t take away the fact that Pep Guardiola’s side could have won this clash by a hatful.

Manchester United might have claimed victory although they were run ragged for much of the ninety minutes and it should be noted that City started the match without several notable players including Kevin de Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Sergio Aguero.

Pep admitted after the clash that “we missed a lot” and he will hope it’s a different story against a Liverpool side who won last week’s first leg by a 3-0 scoreline, meaning that City need to enjoy a victory by the same scoreline.

If the Reds score, then the home team will need to score five times although this can be done as they demonstrated against the same opponents in the Premier League earlier this term.

Mohamed Salah missed Saturday’s derby as expected and it could be touch-and-go as to whether he’s available for this clash, although the Egyptian might not be fully fit if selected.

Liverpool are in a strange situation with a three-goal advantage, more than they could have wished for before the first leg and it could be backs-to-the-wall from the off.

An early City goal could change everything and we’re happy to side with the Premier League champions-elect to overcome a one-goal handicap and also have a dabble on them to qualify.
