The odds are stacked against Leicester claiming another top four spot this season, let alone retaining their Premier League title, although Claudio Ranieri’s side aren’t about to assume the role of relegation strugglers after a freak 2015/16 campaign.

The Foxes only lost N’Golo Kante in the summer and they have strengthened with several new additions including the dangerous Islam Slimani who scored a brace of goals against Burnley last week.

Ranieri rested Slimani and several other key players on Tuesday night as Leicester exited the EFL Cup and the Midlands side will be at full-strength for this Saturday lunchtime encounter.

They will also be intent on winning this football match. A fortnight ago, City went to Anfield and were punished for defending a high line although they carried plenty of menace going forward in that game.

Having dealt comfortably with their first Champions League test when winning in Brugge 3-0, a trip to Old Trafford will hold little fear when they face a Manchester United side who have been in the doldrums since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

Talk of challenging for the title has abated after successive defeats against Manchester City and Watford, with Jose Mourinho lashing out at several players in public and it’s hard to see why they’re priced so short for this one.

Paul Pogba doesn’t seem to have settled into the new-looked United team, with Eric Bailly not the rock solid central defender that was being touted a fortnight ago and then there’s the square peg in the round hole that is Wayne Rooney.

United clearly have issues and it’s worth taking a chance on Leicester to capitalise, with that man Slimani likely to benefit from the ammunition supplied by Riyad Mahrez and the distracting pace of Jamie Vardy.
