It’s not over until the fat lady sings although she’s currently in the dressing room getting ready for the show as far as Jose Mourinho’s time at Old Trafford is concerned.

The Portuguese has cast a glum figure for much of this season, with the campaign beginning with a lacklustre win against Leicester and it’s been a grind ever since, with United losing to Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham already.

They’ve also been held to a draw in the EFL Cup by Derby before losing on penalties, with Valencia arriving at Old Trafford hoping to inflict more misery on the manager.

Los Che aren’t having a great season themselves and only registered their first win of the campaign on Saturday when triumphing away to Sociedad.

Marcelino Garcia Toral will be confident of a scalp and it’s also imperative that Valencia avoid another defeat after losing their opener at home to Juventus, with the visitors at least capable of keeping things tight.

United won away to Young Boys in their first European match although this is a step up in class and there’s little to suggest much harmony exists in the dressing room.

Three goals have been conceded against Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham, with Scott McTominay deployed as part of a three-man defence at the London Stadium and Mourinho is seemingly at pains to illustrate that the club should have signed a quality central defender in the summer.
