This is a tricky opener for punters with only one of the 13 runners – the 33/1 rag Bounty Bah – ruled out with any real confidence. The ones with more obvious claims are Mick Easterby’s Debt Free Game, who ran a close second (of 18) at Thirsk last time in first-time blinkers (will they work again?) and Ann Duffield’s MCLOVIN RIVERDANCE, who put some modest juvenile effort behind him when finishing third (of 17) on his reappearance at Redcar.

At 11/2 and with the stable in flying form he gets the vote, but keep an eye out in the betting for Jeremy Gask’s handicap debutant Acom, who is a full brother to prolific Listed-winning sprinter Judd Street and is pitched in here on what looks a very reasonable mark of 59. If he’d been better drawn (stall 12), he may well have been the pick. The stable has been amongst the winners of late.
