Fernando Amorebieta’s late winner at Griffin Park on Friday means that Middlesbrough have a 2-1 first leg advantage over Brentford ahead of the play-off semi-final second leg this week.

Aitor Karanka’s team will now be confident of booking their place in the Wembley final against either Norwich or Ipswich, with Boro boasting the best home record in the Championship after recording fifteen wins during the regular season.

Notably, the Teeside team conceded just twelve times in twenty-three games and this should stand them in good stead against a Brentford side who have to come out and attack at the Riverside Stadium.

Mark Warburton’s side played pretty well in the first leg and can feel aggrieved that the result went against them, with both goals for the visitors coming from set pieces where the marking was suspect.

However, they might find it hard to combat Boro in this match, with Patrick Bamford a big scoring threat and Jelle Vossen looking an exciting prospect on loan from Belgian club Genk.

At the back, 22-year-old Ben Gibson is the star of the Middlesbrough defence and he had Andre Gray in his pocket for much of the first leg, with the smart money going on another win for Boro.
