Betting Tip: Oxford United @ 5/2 with betfred

Like the phoenix, Oxford United are starting to rise from the Ashes, with Michael Appleton getting things right at the Kassam Stadium.

The U’s sit third in the League Two table and look set to enjoy promotion this season, while they beat Swansea City in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Oxford now have an opportunity to reach Wembley in another competition, with the boys in yellow facing Millwall over two legs in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

They don’t need to go to The Den in search of a win, although the 5/2 about them winning the first leg looks a big price, with the Lions struggling in front of their own supporters.

Neil Harris’ team were one of the favourites to win League One this term, although they are struggling to make the play-offs at the moment, with the London side having lost half of their home matches thus far.

Scoring goals at The Den is an issue, with Millwall returning home looking to address a succession of three straight defeats in front of their own fans.

Conversely, Oxford have lost just one of their past sixteen clashes in all competitions.

The U’s have beaten Swindon, Dagenham and Yeovil to reach this stage of the competition and they also claimed victory at Brentford in the League Cup earlier this season.

Kemar Roofe is probably the best player in League Two and he can inspire an on-song Oxford side to a first leg win.
