Consecutive defeats and a draw at home to Blackburn has prevented Middlesbrough from kicking clear of the chasing pack, although Aitor Karanka’s team are still well placed to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Scoring goals has been a problem in the previous three matches, although the acquisition of Jordan Rhodes demonstrated that Boro mean business and we can be fairly sure they’ll get the beating of an MK Dons side who sit just above the drop zone.

The teams met in September where the Dons set up defensively and it was working out until Stewart Downing broke the deadlock with twenty minutes remaining before David Nugent doubled the lead ten minutes later.

We might see a similar scenario played out on Tuesday night, with Karl Robinson’s side looking to make life difficult and they will be buoyed by a goalless draw at Cardiff on Saturday to keep their heads above water.

However, their previous home defeat was an FA Cup mauling at the hands of Chelsea where the Dons were ruthlessly exposed by a Blues team who could have plundered double figures.

Burnley also pitched up in January and scored five goals which shows that a class side can really tear apart Milton Keynes in front of their own supporters.

Boro might be short of goals right now although with Rhodes set to earn a first start and with class players such as Downing, Clayton and Adomah in the team, we can be fairly confident of playing the away win at even money.
