Tim Easterby has his horses in good form and he could have another winner at Beverley this afternoon with MULTELLIE, who is strongly fancied for the 1m2f handicap (due off 4.25pm).

The son of Multiplex is bred to excel over middle distances so it was to his credit that he managed to make the frame twice from his four starts as a juvenile. Both were with plenty of cut – so he will have no problem with today’s “good to soft” – and he was particularly eye-catching when making his handicap debut over Pontefract’s stiff mile on his final start last season.

Held up in last place, he stayed on strongly once finding a clear run to finish third behind Dark Wave and Cymro, both of whom benefited from being ridden up with the pace and have advertised the form this season. Dark Wave won a Doncaster handicap on his reappearance off a mark of 80, while the 79-rated Cymro floored the odds-on Sir Isaac Newton when winning a Chester maiden last week

On that basis, the selection looks well treated this afternoon on a mark of 62 and, while we’re having to take his fitness for granted first time up, the early betting suggests he’s ready to rock and roll over a trip he should relish and on his favoured ground.
