Tottenham won just over 50% of their away games in the Premier League last season, with this being accurately reflected in the even money quotes about Spurs landing a maximum haul at St James’ Park.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side travel north without several key players and that is likely include Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Kieran Trippier.

Spurs will still have a decent team on the pitch, although Newcastle will surely feel it’s a good time to be facing their London opponents, especially with the dangerous Kane beginning his preparations for later games.

Rafael Benitez has cut a typically frustrated figure on Tyneside, with the purse strings only occasionally being opened by owner Mike Ashley and the Spaniard has talked about “everything being bad” at the club.

Benitez leaving the club would see an exodus of supporters, although he remains in place for now and did make the same sort of noises last season before steering United to tenth place in the Premier League.

Yoshinori Muto has recently arrived from Mainz, with Ki Sung-yeung and Kenedy also on the books for the new campaign and it’s worth noting that Spurs haven’t signed a single new player this summer.

Christian Eriksen is likely to drive the team forward and has shone in pre-season, with Fernando Llorente and Lucas Moura among those players looking to claim more game minutes although Spurs won’t be at full-strength enough to merit backing them at a shade of odds-against.
