Newton Abbot tips - Hobbs runner back on a winning mark

Betting Tip: Bincombe @ 9/1 with bet365

The jumpers are in action at Newton Abbot thus evening and the feature 2m4f handicap chase (6.30pm) makes plenty of appeal as a betting medium.

The ten runners include a couple of last-time-out winners in Fear Glic, who is running under a 7lb penalty for last week’s easy Stratford success, and Gowanauthat, who is seeking a four-timer. While they are both respected, they are also opposable in a race that is more competitive than they are used to and the latter’s tendency to jump to the right has to be another worry around this left-handed track.

They make the market for everything else and it’s the Philip Hobbs-trained BINCOMBE that rates the value bet at a tasty 9/1 with bet365. The eight-year-old has dropped to a mark of 120, which is the same as the one he last won off, and this is his best trip, with all five of his chase wins coming between 2m3f and 2m5f. He travelled like the winner for much of the way when last seen out at Newbury in April before tiring close home on his first start since December, and it’s worth taking a chance on him stripping fitter here with his stable in fine form – Hobbs’ last seven runners have finished 1312222.
