Northern Ireland have secured one more win and three more points than most people expected, with the boys in green putting a poor Ukraine side to the sword.

It means that Michael O’Neill’s side stand a strong chance of reaching the last sixteen of Euro 2016, with three points likely to be enough to get over the line, especially as they have a positive goal difference at the moment.

Indeed, the priority in this game is to keep things tight against the world champions. Germany have looked fairly average thus far, beating Ukraine 2-0 before a goalless draw against Poland which is only marginally better than the Northern Irish.

Player for player, there’s a million miles between the two sides although the sum of Northern Ireland’s parts is truly greater, with that hard-working side that beat the Ukrainians likely to be deployed again.

Clearly Germany are strong favourites to win, although we might expect them to only get narrowly over the line, with Joachim Low struggling to work out the best option with regard to forwards.

There is Thomas Muller who remains an ever-present, although Mario Gotze seems to be struggling and the Germans were a touch lacklustre against the Poles which bodes well in terms of Northern Ireland keeping the scoreline down.
