The Euro 2016 play-offs begin on Thursday night when Norway host a Hungary side who seem to have been underrated by the bookies.

Let’s not forget that every team in the play-offs finished third in their respective qualifying group, with Norway finishing behind Italy and Croatia, while the Hungarians were third behind Northern Ireland and Romania.

The Magyars were effectively let down by a home defeat against the Northern Irish, with that defeat in Budapest only one of two suffered during a campaign which saw them win two and draw two on the road.

The 4-3 reverse in Greece was their final qualifying match where Hungary effectively had to go for victory, with Bernd Storck’s side looking capable of stopping Norway in their tracks.

The Norwegians won six of ten matches in qualifying, although Malta were whipping boys and they did get held at home to Azerbaijan in addition to a home defeat against Italy.

Odds of 5/6 about a Norway win are simply too short with so much at stake. This team are particular weak in terms of goals, with none of the team’s forwards scoring more than one for their country, while there is a dearth of experience throughout the squad.

Compare this with former West Brom midfielder Zoltan Gera and Hungary captain Balazs Dzsudzsak who have over 150 caps between them, while Tamas Priskin is operating successfully for Slovan Bratislava this season.
