Betting Tip: Piccadilly Jim @ 2/1 with bet365

This has drawn the biggest field of the day with 14 set to go to post headed by Richard Fahey’s PICCADILLY JIM, who carries a 6lb penalty for his recent Pontefract success over a furlong less. That was a higher grade race than this and he did it well, keeping on strongly to beat Thornaby Ash, a winner previously, by three and a quarter lengths. The handicapper is likely to put him by more than 6lb for future races and if he runs to the same level of form here he’ll be hard to beat. He’s a relatively skinny price at 2/1, mind, and the temptation is look elsewhere for some value.

Tectonic has been well beaten since scoring over track and trip in June and Nelson’s Bay has struggled since landing a double at Musselburgh early in the season, so a bigger threat may come from the well treated Incurs Four Faults. He would be a topical tip, but I keep coming back to the favourite and, with Jack Garritty taking a handy 3lb off his back, I’m happy to jump on at short odds.
