David O’Meara has a terrific record of improving horses switched from other yards and TREASURY NOTES is the latest example of his skills.

The three-year-old had shown a little promise for his previous trainer, but he stepped up considerably on that when finishing third on his debut for O’Meara and made no mistake when turned out at Hamilton just six days later, winning by a head. That was quite a competitive race for the grade and he can be rated a bit better as he looked to have plenty to do three out, before staying on well to lead close home.

The handicapper could only raise him 2lb for that effort and his new rating of 77 looks very workable given his trainer’s track record. He has another two furlongs to travel this afternoon but given the manner of his victory he has every chance of staying and may well improve for the greater stamina test. He will have to ask he’s up in grade and some of these are coming off good runs, most notably Dance King, who finished second of 20 at York, but the selection has the greater scope for improvement.
