Porto are tough nuts to crack at the Estádio do Dragão, with the Portuguese side having lost just two of their seventeen home matches in the Champions League.

They have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season and were close to winning away to Dynamo Kyiv in their opening Champions League group encounter before conceding a late equaliser in Ukraine.

Nevertheless, this is a team who have won their home matches by scorelines of 3-0, 2-0 and 1-0 this season, with the latter coming in the crunch match against Benfica where Andre Andre scored a late winner.

Iker Casillas is now between the sticks after leaving Real Madrid in the summer, with plenty of quality throughout the team including the dangerous Vincent Aboubakar who carries a big goal threat.

Chelsea opened the group stage with a facile win against Maccabi Tel Aviv although this is a stern test of their defensive credentials, with the Blues going 2-0 down at St James’ Park after a poor first-half showing before rallying to win the game 2-2.

Jose Mourinho famously won the Champions League with Porto and it was a strong defence that was the basis for this success, although Kurt Zouma and Gary Cahill is a central defensive pairing that isn’t working at the moment.

Ramires surely did enough to earn a start after a splendid 20-minute cameo against Newcastle and Diego Costa should return to the team and ruffle a few Porto feathers.

However, surely we have to get with Porto based on the opening form to the season, with Mourinho still struggling to get the winning blend on the road.

Defeats at Everton and Manchester City demonstrate the team’s frailty away to classier opposition and Porto certainly fall into that category.
