The smallest nation at Euro 2016 make their bow on Tuesday for what will be a first appearance at a major tournament.

Aside from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Eidur Gudjohnsen, little is know about most of the Iceland squad although they are managed by the experienced Lars Lagerback who has previously been in charge of his native Sweden.

Lagerback steered the Icelanders to second place in their qualifying group, ahead of Turkey and the Netherlands, with the team experiencing just two defeats in their ten matches.

A lack of big game experience could be an Achilles heel for Iceland, although most of the players operate at a decent club level, with Alfred Finnbogosan a particular scoring threat after scoring seven goals in his final twelve matches for Augsburg.

Sigurdsson needs to perform although the Swansea midfielder is generally excellent from set pieces and the underdogs will be confident that quietening Cristiano Ronaldo can help them get something from the game.

Portugal are a solid enough side who won their qualifying group with something to spare. Jose Fonte is likely to partner Pepe in central defence, with the experienced Joao Moutinho operating behind a front three spearheaded by Ronaldo.

However, the Portuguese are not bankers to go a long way in major tournaments and might come a cropper from the tag of favourites against a side who simply have nothing to lose from attacking at will.

The prices are distorted to the extent where Iceland merit a small bet on the handicap, with their lack of star quality compensated by the fact that they have excellent teamwork which could see them punch above their weight.
