Glasgow Rangers are now three games away from the Scottish Premiership after narrowly beating Queen of the South over two legs.

Stuart McCall’s side have a two-legged play-off against Hibernian before the winners of this tie face Motherwell for a spot in the Scottish top flight and we’re sure to see two highly-charged affairs between the teams from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

There was little to separate the two sides in the regular standings, with Hibs three points better off and it’s the boys in green who have enjoyed a better head-to-head record this season.

Having met four times in the Scottish Championship and also in the Scottish League Cup, Hibernian have been successful on three occasions including a 4-0 thrashing of their rivals in December followed by a 2-0 triumph at Ibrox.

However, the most recent clash saw an improved Gers performance, with the Glasgow side winning 2-0 and this is a team who are now unbeaten in their last seven matches.

McCall certainly feels confident that his team can land that play-off final spot, even though Hibs have had an extended rest while Rangers have been working their way to this stage.

“We go in with great confidence,” McCall told BBC Scotland. “There aren’t many injuries and we should have a healthy squad to chose from.

“It can work in two ways – Hibs will have had 18 days off and we’ve had two tough games,” added McCall.

“But I am confident in the group of players that we’ll be ready on Wednesday.

“We’ve got two teams going into the next tie in good form. Hibs finished the season well.

“In all the big games this season, the lads have produced for us. People were doubting us at Queen of the South and probably doubting us at half-time today.

“We’ve been to Hearts and should have won there, we beat Hearts here and we’ve been to Hibs and won.”
