Reds too short for Russian win

Before you rush and back Liverpool to win on Thursday night, consider the fact that they couldn’t beat Rubin a fortnight ago at Anfield.

Consider also the fact that they have won just two of their six away matches in the Premier League this season.

It’s also true that the Reds are unbeaten under Jurgen Klopp and that the German will be taking a strong squad of players east for this Europa League clash, dismissing the possibility of fatigue for Sunday’s clash against Crystal Palace.

However, they had an hour against ten men a fortnight ago and couldn’t see off their Russian opponents, with Rubin warming up for this game with a 2-1 win at Anzhi a fortnight ago.

Marko Devic was twice on the scoresheet in that game and also scored at Anfield, with Klopp looking for the victory which would put Liverpool in the driving seat when it comes to reaching the Europa League last 32.

However, at the prices, we have to go for the home side. They are having a disappointing campaign domestically, with two wins and four defeats at home meaning they are twelfth in the table.

But do British teams win that often on Russian soil? The answer is no and we’re siding with Rubin on the handicap market as a result.
