Despite being just twenty-five years of age, Chris Wood has played for no less than nine Football League clubs.

The Kiwi started out at West Brom and went out on loan to Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol City and Millwall. It was with the latter club where Wood really caught the eye and Leicester splurged £2 million on the striker.

However, opportunities were limited with the Foxes and, after a loan spell with Millwall, the forward arrived at Leeds United where he hasn’t looked back since.

Since signing for the Whites two years ago, Wood has scored forty goals in eighty appearances, with the player finishing top of the Championship scoring charts last term with twenty-seven goals.

That put him four clear of his nearest rivals and lends strong credibility to the fact that he should accumulate the most goals again next season.

We can be confident that Wood will get plenty of game time, having featured in 44 league matches last term and with new manager Thomas Christiansen looking for him to improve as a player.

The other players at the head of the betting have more question marks over them. It’s no surprise to see Jonathan Kodjia at single figure odds although he’s recovering from an injury and there will be competition for places at Aston Villa including Scott Hogan.

Britt Assombalonga should prosper at Middlesbrough although the bustling striker had his fair share of injury problems at Nottingham Forest, while it’s a surprise to see Jordan Rhodes trading so short considering he struggled to find the net in a Sheffield Wednesday shirt last term.

Perhaps at a bigger price, Lasse Vibe could be a player to back each-way, with the Dane having scored fourteen goals in a Brentford shirt since the turn of the year.

Manager Dean Smith is committed to playing attacking football and Vibe managed fifteen goals last term, which means just a handful extra is likely to put him in the places.
