Betting Tip: Stoke City @ 5/2 with betvictor

Louis van Gaal’s future at Old Trafford looks a bleak one. The Dutchman has effectively done little to improve the fortunes of Manchester United since replacing David Moyes, with the Red Devils already out of the Champions League and not looking at all certain to qualify for this competition again.

United sit fifth in the table and head to the Britannia after consecutive defeats against Bournemouth and Norwich. There has been talk of Jose Mourinho replacing LVG and odds of 13/10 about an away win on Boxing Day make little to no appeal.

However, Stoke City certainly merit a bet at odds of 5/2 with BetVictor. The Potters might have lost to Crystal Palace last Saturday but they were unfortunate to be beaten by the Eagles after largely dominating proceedings at the Britannia.

Mark Hughes will have been encouraged by his team’s performance and a repeat could be enough to get the better of a United side who look ripe for the taking, with the manager failing to get the best out of the team right now.

Indeed, the visitors have failed to win a single match of their past six, with the new signings of Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial failing to inspire an attacking approach from the Red Devils.

Stoke recently and deservedly beat Manchester City and can do the same in front of a packed house at the Britannia Stadium. The likes of Marko Arnautovic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Bojan could be the sort of players that Van Gaal needs in his team and they could prove to be the difference.
