Sunderland looked like cast-iron relegation candidates at the beginning of the season, with Dick Advocaat unable to get a tune out of his squad and swiftly making way for Sam Allardyce.

It hasn’t always been easy for the former Bolton and Newcastle manager and he’s been regularly frustrated at the Black Cats throwing away so many points, although Saturday’s 3-2 win over Chelsea has put the power in their hands.

Victory over Everton on Wednesday would mean relegation is a certainty for Norwich City and Newcastle United, with three points taking Sunderland to a tally of thirty-eight.

Goals from Fabio Borini and Jermain Defoe helped swing Saturday’s match in favour of the Wearside club, with Everton now the visitors this week and the Toffees appear to be ending the season meekly.

Defensively they were all at sea when losing 3-1 at the King Power Stadium last Saturday and it could have been worse after Jamie Vardy missed his second penalty of the match before Kevin Mirallas scored a consolation effort.

Roberto Martinez has got nowhere left to hide and we can see Sunderland getting the job done and leaving little to chance ahead of a final day clash at Watford.
