You don’t get too many crisis meetings two games into the season, although Dick Advocaat and his players convened after a 3-1 home reverse against Norwich City to work through the defensive problems that have blighted their opening two matches.

The 4-2 drumming at the King Power could have been much worse, with Sebastian Coates and Younes Kaboul potentially for the chop ahead of this match, although the prospect of facing Swansea City isn’t a pretty one for the Black Cats.

Swansea have had a really bright opening to the season, drawing 2-2 at Stamford Bridge before a comprehensive 2-0 victory against Newcastle United.

Garry Monk will have observed what is happening at the Stadium of Light, with the Swans manager keen to tell his players to expect a backlash from Sunderland, although he will be quietly confident of another win against north-east opposition.

Bafetimbi Gomis has scored in each of his two games and the same applies to the lively Andre Ayew, with Jefferson Montero, Jonjo Shelvey and Gylfi Sigurdsson making this City attack an irresistible one.

At odds-against, we are siding with the Welsh club to get over the line in this one.
