Betting Tip: Australia to win 4th Test @ 5/4 with boyle

It’s been a massively unpredictable Ashes series thus far. England landed a surprise win in Cardiff before collapsing in a heap at Lord’s although they lost the toss at Edgbaston and still managed to get the job done inside three days.

There’s been little rhyme or reason when it comes to the outcome of each Ashes Test thus far although England’s two wins have been aided by the bowling of James Anderson, someone who misses the rest of the series.

Anderson might not be the leading wicket-taker for England this summer (that’s Stuart Broad) although he’s the kingpin of the bowling attack and inspires confidence in others around him.

Mark Wood will come in alongside Steven Finn, Broad and Moeen Ali although there’s a heavy reliance on this bunch to land twenty Australian wickets, especially without the swing that Anderson provides with the ball.

England are 9/4 with bet365 for a decisive victory in Nottingham although there are problems with the bat as well as ball. Adam Lyth continues to open for a lack of obvious replacement, while Joss Butler has not delivered with the willow during the three Tests to date.

The same can be said of Australia captain Michael Clarke although openers Chris Rogers and David Warner have delivered for the tourists and Steve Smith has shown in snatches why he’s the number one batsman in the world.

Hazlewood, Starc, Johnson and Lyon are all into double-figures and Johnson in particular should get some joy from the Trent Bridge pitch as the Aussies look to recapture the sort of performance that made the Lord’s Test look like a walk in the park.

They have regrouped once already on this tour after the Cardiff defeat and the 5/4 with Boylesports will seem like a steal if they manage to win the toss.

Player-for-player there has never been any doubt that Australia are better and the fact that Anderson is absent from Trent Bridge could be telling in England’s quest to yield the twenty wickets required to win a Test Match.

On the basis that Finn was so explosive on his return to the England set-up, we’re also happy to place a small wager at a very fair 11/4 that he takes the most Aussie wickets during the 1st innings.
