Tottenham Hotspur were excellent a fortnight ago at the Emirates, although not excellent enough to beat Arsenal in their own back yard.

Mauricio Pochettino appears to be along the right lines at White Hart Lane although results sometimes need to match performances and the Gunners were there for the taking a fortnight ago.

Now comes another London derby and West Ham arrive having predictably failed to sustain their early season form which had seen Slaven Bilic’s team win away to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.

A staggering hat-trick of scalps unlikely to be repeated by any other team this season, although Dimitri Payet’s absence robs the team of attacking creativitity. Similarly, Diafra Sakho is injured and that explains why the visitors are such a big price to win.

Nevertheless, these teams are deadlocked on 21 points and perhaps layers have been too hasty to make this a home banker. Odds of 4/7 are plenty short about a team who have won just 50% of their matches at the Lane, with Everton, Stoke and Liverpool all returning home with a point.

Harry Kane has admittedly found scoring form again, while Dele Alli and Eric Dier have worked so well in tandem that Roy Hodgson saw fit to field the pair to great effect on Tuesday.

However, are we really going to pile in and oppose a side who have lost just one of six matches on the road this term? It was only a few weeks ago that they were beating Crystal Palace and Chelsea, with Manuel Lanzini enjoying great form in the midfield department.

Therefore, we’re happy to go with West Ham on the handicap market and play their part in what should be a closer contest than the odds suggest. Andy Carroll can cause a different sort of problem to the Spurs defence and the visitors won’t be easy to break down after clean sheets at the Emirates and Anfield.
