Tottenham at odds-on this Sunday? No thank you!

Spurs have been struggling to score goals since the season began, drawing blanks against Manchester United and Everton, while they scored a combined four times against Stoke, Leicester and Sunderland.

It’s a Tottenham team not pulling up many trees at the moment and things might have been different at the Stadium of Light if Jermain Defoe had shot just inches inside the post instead of directly against the woodwork.

Crystal Palace have been far more impressive in their five games to date, picking up three points at Stamford Bridge in addition to Carrow Road. Indeed, the Eagles seem to be better on the road than at home and the match odds for the reverse fixture would be a lot different.

Alan Pardew’s side were unfortunate to lose at home to Manchester City a week ago, having also lost against Arsenal by a narrow margin and they will be arriving at White Hart Lane to win this football match.

Coral go 10/3 about a Palace win and we’re tempted in by this price although you can also get plenty of value on the handicap market should you wish to go down this route.

Spurs have done little to justify the odds-on quotes after failing to put Stoke or Everton away, with Harry Kane yet to score in the Premier League and there is also the small matter of a Europa League date with Qarabag on Thursday night.

Pardew said during the summer that Palace can now compete transfer-wise with Spurs and it certainly was borne out when Bakary Sako and Yohan Cabaye arrived at the club despite a string of suitors.
