There are two divisions separating Tranmere and Peterborough right now, although there isn’t a great deal between these two teams.

Rovers are stationed mid-table in the National League after a slow start to the season although the Wirral side are really starting to pick up in recent weeks.

Micky Mellon’s side have won four, drawn two and lost one of their past seven league matches, while they were good value to draw 1-1 at Peterborough ten days ago in the original FA Cup tie.

Mellon will be missing some key personnel for this match including Mitch Duggan and Jeff Hughes, although there are squad players capable of making an impact including Jay Hughes, Larnell Cole and Gerry McDonagh.

Cole is a particularly exciting talent and could cause problems for a Posh side who came out of the traps flying this season but there have been just two wins in the past ten games and one was against Cambridge in the Football League Trophy.

Posh traded first half blows with Wimbledon during Sunday’s televised clash which ended in a 2-2 scoreline and that gives them less preparation time for the game, with United having won just two of eight away games.

Tranmere are picking up a head of steam as we enter a busy part of the season and, with Prenton Park likely to be bouncing, we think the non-league team are too big a price for victory here.
