Caribbean outfit Jamaica are set to contest one of the tournament favourites and reigning champions the USA, when both nations come together in the Gold Cup semi-finals on North American soil.

The Reggae Boyz will take on the United States on Wednesday night in Atlanta and are 7/1 with bet365 to cause an upset by securing victory and reaching a historic final appearance.

In what will be their first ever Gold Cup semi-final outing, Jamaica are in great form and look more than capable of stunning Jurgen Klinsmann’s side, after recording a third successive clean sheet in their quarter-final win over Haiti.

The Jamaicans got off to a flying start in their eventual victory over fellow Caribbean country Haiti, with attacker Giles Barnes grabbing an early opener, before they held on to secure a 1-0 triumph in Baltimore.

Quarter-final goalscoring hero Barnes is confident that his nation can make even more history at the prestigious tournament by overcoming the Stars and Stripes, who have been impressive so far in their bid to retain their Gold Cup crown.

“They’ve been solid at the back, and they’re moving the ball well, exactly what you’d expect from a Jurgen Klinsmann,” Barnes said of the USA. “So they’ll be a tough test on Wednesday, but we’re confident that we’re more than capable of coming away with a result.”

Houston Dynamo forward Barnes is now 14/1 with bet365 to open proceedings again in this semi-final meeting, with the London-born attacker aiming to fire his country to a famous win over the hosts and defending champions.

Speaking of his decisive quarter-final strike, Barnes stated: “I kind of looked up and didn’t really see anyone in box, and I thought just hit it hard and low. The coach had been telling me to shoot more.”

Jamaica boss Winfried Schafer will look to lead the Reggae Boyz to a historic triumph and his men are 7/2 with Paddy Power to qualify for the final.
