Before qualifying for Euro 2016 started, you might have predicted that one of these teams would be playing in France next summer.

However, it’s the side wearing orange that are missing out after a dismal qualifying campaign which saw the Netherlands finish fourth in Group A behind Czech Republic, Iceland and Turkey.

Daley Blind’s side won just four of their ten matches and they lost away to all of the teams that finished above them. Which begs the question as to why they are even money to triumph in Cardiff on Friday night.

Blind can still call upon some quality performers in Arjen Robben and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, although there isn’t much to love about the midfield department, with Memphis Depay one of several players who are potentially good rather than the real deal.

Player for player, the Dutch aren’t streets ahead of a Wales team who have some serious preparing to do between now and the Euro 2016 finals in June, with Chris Coleman’s side having qualified relatively comfortably.

The fact that the Welsh claimed four points against Belgium suggests they won’t be easily beaten in Cardiff and it’s worth siding with them on the handicap market to get something from this game.

Gareth Bale, Hal Robson-Kanu and Aaron Ramsey are big misses for Wales, with Coleman clearly short of attacking options although Swansea’s Ashley Williams marshals a defence that was particularly stingy during qualifying.

Joe Ledley and Joe Allen bring some backbone to the midfield department, with David Vaughan, David Edwards and Andy King all possessing experience at international level to make sure this is a match which could be evenly-contested.
