Tim Vaughan is double-handed in the 2m handicap hurdle at Wincanton (3.40pm) with Dadsintrouble, who is making his handicap debut after an absence of 327 days, and fellow six-year-old RUSTAMABAD. It’s the latter interests me most as he has shown more ability in his seven starts under Rules, finishing in the first three on five occasions, and he is potentially thrown in here on a mark of 108 based on his one-length second to Fourth Act at this track in October (2m5f, good to firm), with the winner now rated in the 140s.

The selection finished well beaten on his handicap debut at Huntingdon in January but the stable was badly out of form then and besides deep winter ground was never going to suit this son of Dylan Thomas. With conditions in his favour this afternoon and with Alan Johns taking a handy 5lb off his back, he could well get involved and reward each-way support.
