West Brom were soundly beaten in their Premier League opener against Manchester City, with Tony Pulis lamenting his expansive game plan which played into the hands of a deadly visiting team.

Indeed, the scoreline could have been more emphatic and the Baggies won’t risk leaving themselves open against a practically brand-new Watford team who enjoyed a bright start to the campaign.

Quique Flores did pretty well to land a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park and it could have been even better as the Hornets twice took the lead, with Troy Deeney leading the line and Miguel Layun looking dangerous from range.

There is sure to be a fervent atmosphere at Vicarage Road, although Albion will be in no mood for a party and could start out looking to keep things tight against the Premier League new boys.

A Tony Pulis team will rarely set out to simply outscore opponents and this match will probably involve Rickie Lambert operating as the lone forward, with Claudio Yacob potentially coming into the starting XI to bolster the midfield.

It might not be pretty but the aim will be to nullify Watford in a similar way that Aston Villa did at Bournemouth last weekend before scoring from a set piece.

Rather than back either team, a better play might be the low-goal count, with James Chester bringing some strength to a West Brom defence, not to mention the odd goal.
