West Ham United have come up with a three-point plan to deal with supporter difficulty at their new ground, although Slaven Bilic is badly in need of three points when the Hammers take to the pitch.

The Croatian will have breathed a sigh of relief when Dimitri Payet banged in an injury-time free-kick against Accrington on Wednesday night, thus avoiding a possible cup shock and the prospect of playing an additional thirty minutes.

However, this is proving to be a tricky season so far, with the Hammers out of Europe already and having lost four of their five Premier League clashes.

It’s hard to fancy West Ham to beat Southampton on Sunday, with Bilic having seen his side relinquish a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 against Watford before conceding another hatful at The Hawthorns.

It means eleven goals have been shipped in the last three encounters, with Michail Antonio’s excellent scoring form counting for a lot less than it should.

We should expect a more defensive approach from the home side, although Southampton could be difficult to tame and Claude Puel’s side have been playing inventive football since the campaign began.

Last weekend, they completely owned Swansea at St Mary’s and should have put them to the sword by several goals, while the Saints come into the match off the back of three straight wins.

The common theme? Three straight clean sheets and Charlie Austin on the scoresheet each time, with the striker having broken the deadlock in the trio of encounters.

These wins have all taken place at St Mary’s, although Southampton were a whisker away from landing a point at the Emirates and there will be plenty of attacking invention through Nathan Redmond and Dusan Tadic.

Take Southampton to win the game and leave West Ham with issues on the pitch as well as off it.
