There are several reasons why Tottenham should be opposed tonight.

Firstly, they are too short in the betting. Yes, they might be in title contention although Spurs have won seven of thirteen away matches this season. They basically have no right to be odds-on.

Secondly, their opponents West Ham haven’t lost at home since August. Since they got their act together at the Boleyn Ground under Slaven Bilic, they don’t lose in front of their own supporters.

Thirdly, this is a London derby that rivals the friction that exists between Tottenham and Arsenal. These teams and their respective supporters really don’t like each other and you can expect a cauldron atmosphere for this one.

Fourthly, this is the last West Ham v Spurs clash at the Boleyn Ground and the home fans certainly won’t want their abiding memory of this fixture to be a victory for a title-chasing Tottenham side.

Lastly, West Ham are a decent side. Dimitri Payet is clearly red-hot this season and is possibly the best signing of the season, with the Frenchman capable of steering things in the direction of his side.

It looks set to be an evenly-matched encounter and it’s hard to see West Ham as massive underdogs as the odds would suggest. The home side have only lost two of their past eighteen matches in all competitions and we’re happy to side with them on the handicap market.
