The Flat turf season is well under way – whether you like it or not – and we’d better get used to Windsor on Mondays, the track’s traditional slot.

As per usual, the card is largely made up of tricky-looking, low-grade handicaps and it’s even harder finding the winners at this early stage of the season as we’re guessing over the fitness of many of the runners.

That’s certainly the case in the 1m handicap for three-year-olds (3.50pm) with all bar two making their reappearance. Marco Botti’s Refulgence may do best of the pair who have been running on the all-weather, though he’s 0-9 now and I’d rather take a chance on the Paul Cole-trained CAITIE being straight enough on her return.

The daughter of Canford Cliffs showed some promise in four starts last term, including when finishing runner-up in a Wolverhampton maiden won by Spennithorne, who won again subsequently and is now rated in the 80s. The selection could therefore be well treated on a mark of 69 and her stable got off the mark for the season with another three-year-old runner making his handicap debut at Catterick last week.
