The season is unravelling fast for Wolverhampton Wanderers, with supporters directing their anger towards the club board who are apparently showing little ambition at the Championship club.

Wolves have dropped to 15th place after a poor run of results and it’s now been seven matches without a league win. This has coincided with the departure of Benik Afobe to Bournemouth and a row which suggested that the striker had downed tools at Molineux before completing the switch.

Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at Brentford was desperate and we should expect the mood to turn sour on Saturday lunchtime should Derby County take the lead which seems a distinct possibility.

The Rams have had problems of their own recently, with Paul Clement surprisingly axed by owner Mel Morris who has appointed Darren Wassall in temporary charge.

Successive wins over Brentford and Blackburn have steadied the ship and Derby won’t have given up hope of overhauling their promotion rivals to land a top two spot.

Away form of 7-6-3 is pretty decent and it means that Rams lead the way in terms of performance on the road. The team clearly play with more freedom against defences that are higher up the pitch, with a recent 3-1 victory at Brentford demonstrating that there is team spirit.

Jamie Hanson is getting first-team starts under Wassall, with goals coming from every quarter and odds-against looks a decent shout for anyone backing Derby.
