Over jumps now and it’s hard to resist giving the Charlie Longsdon-trained BOB TUCKER another chance when he lines up in the opening 2m7f handicap chase (2.20pm). The eight-year-old broke my heart – and emptied my wallet – when getting beat at Newbury twice, going off as a well-backed favourite on each occasion. He’s not ungenuine, though, and having kept this novice status for this season it will be a surprise if he can’t win a race of his nature off his current rating of 118. With his stable in form and with Aidan Coleman (20% strike rate on stable runners) booked to do the steering, I’m very hopeful of retrieving losses – with interest!

The biggest threat may come from the Philip Hobbs-trained Free Of Charge, who is unexposed over this sort of trip, while Dolores Delightful was progressive over hurdles last season and promises to make a better chaser.
