You never hear Wrexham v Chester get mentioned when people talk about fiercely-contested derbies, although this is a Wales v England clash which rivals Real Madrid v Barcelona in terms of intensity.

Indeed, Lionel Messi admitted he’ll be tuning in to watch Saturday’s match at The Racecourse, with Wrexham fancied to continue their strong home form by beating a Chester side who are conceding an average of two goals per game on the road.

Gary Mills’ team have only conceded once in their five home encounters and, while they have only managed four goals thus far, it’s illustrative that the Reds are capable of keeping things very tight.

Chester come into this match having enjoyed successive home wins although they have failed to win away this season and they lost this fixture 3-0 last season.

The fact that the Cheshire side have kept three consecutive clean sheets means that we could witness a cagey encounter and it might be worth taking a punt on the Welsh team to win by a single goal.

Maybe this is the game that Shaun Harrad breaks his duck after a summer arrival from Torquay and Mills certainly needs more goals if his team are to challenge for promotion.
