Coventry City are surprisingly looking for a new manager after longtime boss Mark Robins was sacked on Thursday, with the club struggling in 17^th in the Championship and only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. 

The surprise is that Robins had been in charge since 2017 and had brought the team up through from League Two all the way to the Championship playoff final to get to the Premier League just 18 months ago.

Lee Carsley appeared in the box seat to take on the England role that Gareth Southgate vacated after Euro 2024 following the good work he had done with England under-21s. However, after an ill-advised attempt at a funky formation he admitted the team practiced for half an hour led to a home defeat to Greece, he was always out of the running.

But a move into club management could be the perfect next step for an ambitious man, and given his history with Coventry City – he played 72 times for the club across two spells and had a couple of terms as caretaker manager too – it’s clear why betting apps think he is a strong contender.

Frank Lampard Could be Championship-Ready

Frank Lampard started his managerial career at Derby County in the Championship, so he is no stranger to the league, and he has been linked with many vacancies since leaving Chelsea in 2023 by numerous football betting sites.
