The Emirates has become something of a fortress of late, the last side to manage any points there being Manchester United in November. Villa won't be bucking the trend on Sunday afternoon when they head to town.
Arsenal are very much in the ascendancy at the moment and things will only get better with the return of Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil. Will Villa return home with anything for their efforts? Yes, a thrashing!
It would seem that there are grounds for optimism at the Emirates these days. With eight wins in their last ten outings, the Gunners are enjoying life at the moment. They won at the Etihad in their last Premier League match and are safely through to the fifth round of the FA Cup, beating Brighton 3-2 last weekend and emerging as favourites to successfully defend their crown in that competition.
As if this wasn’t enough, Wenger has just forked out £12 million on defender Gabriel Paulista and with players returning from injury on a regular basis, the Gunners fans could be forgiven for believing that a Champions League place is on the cards once again.
Theo Walcott will be a particularly welcome returnee in the Gunners attack. The England international scored the opening goal against Brighton last weekend and we’ll be backing him to open the scoring on Sunday afternoon at 9/2 with Sky Bet.
Mesut Ozil also contributed to the scoring on the south coast last week and Bet365 have him at 7/1 to break the deadlock against the Villans and 2/1 to score any time.
These prices are especially tempting since we believe that the hosts will clinch a win by a considerable margin. Arsenal put three past Villa without reply in the reverse fixture earlier this season, Ozil scoring in that encounter and we believe that another comfortable win is in store for the north London side on Sunday.
Indeed, the bookies are offering odds-on for a Gunners win by two or more goals and such it is really a case of deciding on goalscorers. Ozil and Walcott immediately spring to mind and as such, we’ll be limiting our tips to these two players.
Our betting tips
