It's London derby time for Arsenal on Boxing Day and they can enjoy an excellent start to their hectic festive fixture list with a win against struggling QPR.
Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by a 10-man Liverpool side last weekend, a result which saw the Gunners lose further ground to the top four. Indeed, Arsenal can consider themselves unlucky not to have clinched maximum points in that match, Martin Skrtel scoring a last minute equaliser for the Merseyside club.
Arsene Wenger will demand nothing less than three points in Friday’s clash with near-neighbours Queens Park Rangers and we feel that the Gunners will defeat their local rivals on Boxing Day. Rangers are still dangerously close to the dreaded relegation zone, however they have done their cause no end of good with a five-game unbeaten run at Loftus Road. It is whilst on the road however that they continue to struggle and this will almost certainly prove to be the case when they make the short journey to the Emirates on Friday. They have suffered defeat in all eight of their matches on the road this term with just three away goals to their name, therefore we feel that the home goal will be a quiet place to be on Boxing Day.
With the Gunners starting this match as odds-on favourites, there is little value to be had by backing the home side on this occasion, however there are numerous other options available for those seeking an extra bit of value.
The first of these is total match goals. The visitors are conceding aplenty away from Loftus Road and purely for that reason we’ll be backing Over 2.5 Goals, such an outcome available at 1/2 with BetVictor
Obviously with goals come goal-scorers and we have plenty of options available in the home side. Alexis Sanchez will be eager to halt his goal drought as soon as possible and the visit of QPR gives the Chilean the chance to rediscover his scoring abilities, Betfair offering 5/6 for Sanchez to score anytime.
Another obvious option is Olivier Giroud, the Frenchman scoring twice against Newcastle United and following that up with a goal at Anfield at the weekend. He represents decent value to score on Boxing Day at 10/11 with Coral.
Perhaps the best bet for us is an Arsenal win to nil. The Gunners may not be the most solid side at the back, however the QPR attack is pretty toothless to say the least with a mere three goals in their eight away matches so far.
