Aston Villa v Liverpool betting tips – Reds resurgence will continue

Liverpool will continue winning ways on Saturday at Villa Park

A seventh successive unbeaten run looks set to be on the cards for Brendan Rodgers when his Liverpool side make the trip to Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool had a poor start to the season, however things have improved immeasurably of late and the Reds will be looking to maintain a great start to the new year following some impressive results.

Indeed, the Reds now sit eighth in the Premier League table and are just four points behind bitter rivals Manchester United. They maintain hopes of achieving a place in the Champions League for the second successive season and as such will be desperate for a win over a struggling Aston Villa side.

Liverpool’s main concern remains lack of a consistent goalscorer, Daniel Sturridge absent through injury and as such, the fans are eagerly awaiting any transfer news before the window slams shut.

Indeed, Sturridge is back in training, however it remains unlikely that he will back to full fitness in time for this match and despite the likelihood of his being named in Saturday’s squad, we don’t expect him to play any part in this encounter.

Aston Villa are without a Premier League win since early December and sit perilously close to the relegation zone. They are the lowest scoring side in the top flight by a considerable margin with a mere 11 goals scored in all their Premier League matches so far this term, however have been solid enough up front.

The Villa squad should feature new signing Carles Gil, the player possibly making the starting line-up and Fabian Delph will also make a return from suspension.

Liverpool will welcome back Raheem Sterling following his break and he should be leading the line against Villa with Lazar Markovic and Philippe Coutinho in supporting roles, however Steven Gerrard will play no part in affairs following his hamstring injury.

Liverpool managed a narrow 1-0 victory away to Sunderland last weekend and we fancy them to continue their winning ways by clinching maximum points with a clean sheet  once again at Villa Park at odds of 21/10 with Sky Bet.

Raheem Sterling will be eager to impress upon his return and he represents good value to add to his season’s tally at 7/4 with Bet365.
