Brentford are surprising many fans and pundits alike this season and look set to cement their position in the play-off places with a win against near-neighbours Fulham.
Brentford apparently haven’t been reading the script. They weren’t expected to feature in the top half of the table at this stage, least of all sit in the play-off places. Nevertheless, the Bees have enjoyed a great start to the season and look set to continue this excellent form with another win at Griffin Park on Friday evening.
Saying that, Brentford haven’t had things all their own way this season, however they come into this match on the back of an impressive 3-2 win against Millwall at the Den and recorded a fine 2-1 victory over league leaders Derby County earlier this month, followed by a hard fought 3-1 away win against Nottingham Forest, never an easy place from which to take home the points.
The hosts look set to continue their fine form when they welcome the Cottagers to Griffin Park and start as slight favourites, BetVictor offering odds of 6/4 for a home win. Manager Mark Warburton will enjoy a near fully fit squad and will likely utilise the same squad which swept past Millwall in their last outing two weeks ago.
Fulham started their own season dreadfully, however things have improved immeasurably at Craven Cottage of late and they will make the short trip to Griffin Park in high spirits following their six game unbeaten run in the Championship. Kit Symons appears to have breathed new life into the side and this match may well be closer than many predict.
The visitors start this match as slight outsiders at 2/1, however they have proven beyond doubt that they have rediscovered how to get on the goal trail once again, therefore we expect them to add to the scoresheet on Friday evening.
Nevertheless, the Bees are flying high at the moment and we feel that they will have a slight advantage at Griffin Park. Both teams can score, however the hosts will likely edge this match and continue their stint in the play-off places for another week at least.
