A 2-0 win over Manchester City. Seven goals in three games without reply. Arsenal's confidence will be sky-high when they make the journey to the seaside on Sunday afternoon. Can Brighton provide any resistance? Maybe, but not a lot.
We never say never. Anything can happen in cup competitions. Nevertheless, Arsene Wenger has seen his side turn in some poor performances this season and he won’t be accepting such a performance against Championship strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Etihad is a difficult place to clinch victory at the best of times, however the Gunners turned in a decent performance and inflicted City’s first defeat-to-nil since mid-October at the weekend. The Amex Stadium will hold little fear for the visitors and we’ll be expecting a somewhat ruthless display from an Arsenal side who are improving as the season progresses.
The Gunners last made the journey to Brighton in January 2013 in this very competition, returning with a 3-2 victory. We feel that the result will be rather more emphatic this time around and with the hosts struggling to find the back of the net this season, we’ll be backing the Gunners to win and keep a clean sheet on Sunday at odds of 8/5 with Paddy Power.
Alexis Sanchez has been banging in the goals for the visitors this term and he will be eager to add to his tally of 18 for the season to date. We fancy him to score at some point of this match at Evens with Ladbrokes.
The Seagulls have struggled this season in the Championship and will attaching more importance to survival in the second tier than this cup clash perhaps. As such, we’ll be predicting a one sided affair.
