Following Middlesbrough's win over Cardiff City last night, Ipswich Town have slipped out of the automatic promotion places, however they can go top of the table should they beat Brighton this evening.
Things are extremely tight at the top of the Championship table and with Leeds beating leaders Bournemouth at Elland Road last night, Ipswich Town have a chance to soar to top spot.
Ipswich have enjoyed a hugely successful season so far, however their form has slipped somewhat since the new year with just one win and one draw from their last four outings.
Nevertheless a 3-1 away win against Millwall last weekend will have boosted confidence somewhat and they will be in high spirits ahead of their clash with a Brighton side which is slowly sinking towards the relegation zone.
The Seagulls have struggled this season and have recorded just five wins from their 26 Championship games, three of these being at home. They started the new year brightly, enjoying an FA Cup third round win at Brentford followed by a 1-0 victory at Charlton, however Brentford turned the tables in the league last weekend with a 1-0 win on the south coast and Brighton will need to bounce from that defeat should they wish to avoid sinking further into the danger zone.
To be honest, we’re expecting more of the same for the Seagulls tonight. The match betting suggests that this looks set to be an extremely tight match and indeed it may well be. Nevertheless, Ipswich have only lost once on the road since August and a narrow win for the Tractor Boys is expected tonight.
