Brighton can move out of the relegation zone briefly by taking all three points from their home clash with relegation rivals Millwall this week.
Brighton and Hove Albion narrowly lost out on promotion to the top flight, ultimately losing in a play-off match at the end of last season. They have started this season in contrasting fashion and are now in the relegation zone following a dismal opening few months, failing to win seventeen out of twenty matches to date.
Two points separate the Seagulls from fourth bottom Millwall and Rotherham and a win on Friday against the Lions could lift them briefly away from the bottom three.
The visitors have also started the season in disastrous fashion and their two month winless run was extended on Saturday with a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Middlesbrough.
Ian Holloway will be demanding a much improved performance on Friday evening as they look to get their dismal season back on track, however Millwall appear to be having problems getting themselves onto the scoresheet, a situation which is also affecting Brighton. As such, we’re not exactly expecting a goal-fest in this encounter.
Sami Hyypia’s side will include some seven loanees for this clash, including Greg Halford, Darren Bent and Joe Bennett, however Kazenga LuaLua will make no appearance following the winger’s knee injury sustained in the 2-1 defeat by Fulham recently.
Millwall gaffer Ian Holloway will be expected to make numerous changes to the side which suffered the embarrassing thrashing at the weekend, Martyn Woolford and Danny Shittu likely to make a start following their second half appearances in the Middlesbrough match.
All but two of the last six meetings between these two teams have ended in stalemate and this match is looking like ending in a similar fashion. The home side do possess the quality required to edge out a very narrow win, however going on recent form it is hard to see where any winning goals would come for.
Darren Bent scored on his debut and we’re backing him to score against a leaky Millwall rearguard on Friday at odds of 9/5 with Coral.
